Frequently asked question

We understand theunique
characteristics
of each regional market.

Is Feelingwood Decking Scratch Resistant?
All Feelingwood decking is designed to resist potential damage. Our current decking lines are scratch resistant, protecting your deck against nicks, cracks, and splitting.
Is Feelingwood Fire Resistant?
Your safety outdoors is our utmost priority. At Feelingwood, we prioritize safety measures. Our WPC decking has passed fire-resistant testing. However, please note that it is not fireproof.
Can I Use Other Fasteners to Install Feelingwood Decking?
Feelingwood does not endorse the use of non-recommended fasteners for deck installation. If any issues arise due to the use of a non-recommended fastener, such conditions will not be covered under the Feelingwood Limited Warranty. Please consult our Installation Guide for more information.
Can I Place Rugs on My Feelingwood Deck?
Most area rugs are suitable for use on Feelingwood decking, but we advise regularly cleaning underneath them. In rare cases, rugs made of plastic or viscose materials may bleed, potentially staining the decking or making them difficult to remove. Always ensure your decking is fully dry before placing a rug.
Can I Install a Firepit on My Feelingwood Deck?
Installing a wood or gas firepit directly on top of Feelingwood decking is not recommended. However, you may position a gas firepit beside or in between deck boards, ensuring you use a protective wall made of stone or another fire-resistant material for insulation.
Does Feelingwood Decking Get Hot on a Sunny Day?
Similar to other outdoor surfaces like concrete, asphalt, beach sand, wood decking, and other composite decking brands, Feelingwood decking can become hot due to weather and sun exposure. On hot sunny days, it’s important to be cautious and avoid prolonged skin contact with the deck surface, especially for young children and those with special needs. Darker colors tend to feel hotter, so for hotter climates, a lighter color may be a better choice.
Can I Receive Decking Samples?
Please contact us if you are interested in our composite decking products.
Can I Paint or Stain My Feelingwood Decking Boards?
The robust shell of our high-performance Feelingwood decking means it never requires painting or staining. The rich color and protective finish are inherently part of the shell, designed to resist rotting, splitting, splintering, and insect damage for the duration of the warranty. Additionally, painting Feelingwood decking may invalidate your warranty.
Is Feelingwood Decking Easy to Clean?
Maintaining a Feelingwood deck is effortless. Simply clean it with soap and water. For a detailed cleaning routine, please refer to our dedicated Care & Cleaning Guide.
Is Feelingwood Decking Maintenance-Free?
While Feelingwood decking requires significantly less maintenance than traditional wood decking, it still needs some care to maintain its appearance over the years. Just like washing your car, regular cleaning and upkeep are necessary. Refer to our Care & Cleaning Guide for more information on maintaining your deck.
Is Feelingwood Decking Easy to Install?
Installing your Feelingwood deck is quite simple, especially with our fast-installation system. Our installation guide and video offer valuable tips and tricks to ensure a smooth installation process.
What’s the Lifetime Value of Feelingwood?
Pressure-treated wood decks require ongoing maintenance, including sanding, staining, and painting, which adds to the overall cost over time. Although Feelingwood may have a higher initial investment, its lack of maintenance needs ensures you’ll never have to sand, stain, or paint it. This results in significant savings throughout the deck’s lifespan, surpassing the cost of wood. Additionally, you’ll enjoy more time on your deck, rather than working on it, further enhancing its value.
What Materials Are Used in the Manufacturing of Feelingwood Decks?
Feelingwood decking is crafted from 90% recycled materials, including reclaimed sawdust and recycled plastic derived from common household items like plastic overwrap from paper towel and toilet paper packaging, dry cleaner bags, newspaper bags, and grocery and shopping bags.
Why is Feelingwood More Expensive than Wood, Despite Being Made from Recycled Materials?
Although Feelingwood’s primary materials are recycled, the rigorous processing involved in creating this decking ensures its superior quality and performance. This advanced manufacturing process results in a decking material that outperforms traditional wood, ultimately saving you money through lower maintenance requirements.
How Much Does Feelingwood Decking Cost?
On average, the estimated material cost for a Feelingwood composite deck ranges from 20 to 40 dollars per square foot, including substructure, decking, hardware, and fasteners. For a true cost estimate, please reach out to our customer service for consultation.
Why Choose Feelingwood Decking?
Feelingwood decking offers unmatched durability and performance compared to traditional wood decks. It resists termites, rot, warping, and splintering, and never requires staining or painting. Moreover, our decking is crafted from 90% recycled materials, making it an environmentally friendly choice you can feel proud of.
